Think Publishing gets personal
There’s only one website customer publishing agencies fear to launch, and that’s their own. Create a concept for a client and you can stand back and be objective. But when it’s personal? Well that’s another story.
Why now, you ask? Well, I’d be lying if I said the new site was conceived, designed, written and built in the normal project timeframe – finding the time to work on your own site is certainly no easy task. But in the last few months Ian, Polly and I decided that we needed to take our website in a different direction, one that inspired people about working with Think and showcased our on and offline capabilities. We also wanted to ensure the site was user-friendly and raised a smile.
I may be our biggest critic, but when I browse through the clean pages of our new site, I think we’ve achieved just that. Personality is something that sets our company apart, and that’s what you’ll find in everything from the showreel to our little hand drawn Thinker (who looks particularly fun watering our Think ‘green’ tree). I love its simplicity and its humour – not to mention the fact that every little bit of it was accomplished in house.
In many ways I wish Think was a client, rather than our own company. It’s so tempting to tinker indefinitely when it’s your own product (we’re on version 8.22 at the moment). And it has been an interesting challenge to get all three of us directors to agree on the final site – sign off doesn’t usually involve shouting, screaming and a big bottle of white wine (for Ian). But I hope you like the finished product. Do email across any suggestions or criticisms. Any excuse to create a version 8.23…
