 The thought process

Consistently recognised for its inspiring, evocative content,

the member magazine Historic Scotland covers everything from archaeology and conservation to stories that uncover the history of Scotland, and great days out.

From Skara Brae on Orkney to Caerlaverock Castle near Dumfries, Historic Scotland features tales of kings and queens, as well as foot soldiers in their armies and many other figures across the past 5,000 years, bringing history to life for its readers.

One of the challenges the magazine faces is finding new ways to come back to familiar properties. With 75 properties and 375 monuments and standing stones, the Think team works closely with the team at Historic Environment Scotland to find new angles, surprising stories and little-known facts to bring the destinations to life.
