At Think, we don’t just create content for clients that changes lives; we create an environment that makes positive change possible, both for our teams and the wider world.
While we may not have the budgets of a larger organisation, you can join any monthly company zoom meeting and be greeted with people with purpose; people who care about the work they do and those around them.
I haven’t been at Think long, but the last year has flown by. I’ve never worked somewhere that I’ve felt so valued, respected, and listened to. I’ve worked on some great campaigns and feel a massive part of the successes that come with this.
The flexibility and trust that come with remote working mean I’m able to live outside of the city in which I work, and can enjoy more of a work/life balance without having to worry about my daily commute. Seeing colleagues get promoted from within and recognised for new positions makes me feel I could never get bored, as there’s always new opportunities right around the corner.
And as if that’s not enough, Think has just been recognised as one of Campaign’s top 100 Best Places to Work in 2023!
This prestigious list, compiled annually, recognises companies that have demonstrated exceptional employee satisfaction, company culture, and overall workplace excellence.
Jackie Scully, Executive Director, says: “This really is the very best of team awards that recognises the great work every single person at Think puts in to making the company a brilliant place to be.
“As directors, we were floored by the incredible 91% average in the survey results (results that make up a majority of the mark we will go on to receive). I feel so proud to be working for a company that makes positive change possible every single day.”
But don’t just take our word for it. I spoke to some more Thinkers to gather their thoughts on the matter, and here’s what they said…
Space to thrive
“Think is great at recognising people for their skills and achievements. They train, promote and give people the space to do what they enjoy.”
– Anna Vassallo, Associate Director
At Think, teams are trusted to manage their time and office attendance, giving everyone the flexibility and autonomy to do our very best work.
Think actively promotes from within and people are encouraged to move into different departments to grow professionally. Training is a priority. If people find a course, they go on it (current favourite: Mini Marketing MBA).
“There is so much I enjoy about working at Think. Not only are the people fantastic, but the positive and collaborative company culture is infectious. There’s a strong sense of support felt throughout Think and there are always opportunities to grow and further your career.” – Hannah Sarsfield, Partnerships and Insights Manager
Variety and purpose
“There are so many reasons why Think is a great place to work. There’s such a huge variety in work, which makes every day different and means there is lots of room for progression. But the best thing has to be the people, who are simply brilliant and make Think what it is.” – Melissa Michael, Client Engagement Director
As we work with 50+ charities and membership bodies, no two days are ever the same. We’re an agile company, always evolving, and this gives people the chance to develop while also making a difference.
“It is a joy to work at Think for so many reasons. No day or year is ever the same, whether it’s new projects, initiatives or people, it means it never gets repetitive or boring. I love working on exciting, award-winning projects and I can’t wait to see what we do next.” – Anna Vassallo, Associate Director
Bringing great people together
Virtual working has been transformative, but we also value connection and collaboration. We hold monthly company meetings, regular leadership check-ins and group dinners.
“Working for Think in an office-based role means I get to be with close friends every day. Being so far away from home, I’ve been able to establish my ‘London family’ here. In a hot-desk environment like Think’s, there’s always a rotation of friendly faces up for a laugh, endless biscuits, and healthy debates as to whether we play Beyonce or Taylor Swift’s latest album…” – Bella Robson, Office Manager & Executive Team Assistant
“I really enjoy working for Think as I get to spend my days with like-minded individuals who share the same values and are working towards the same goals. We’re so lucky to have a range of really lovely clients too, which makes our day to day so much better.” – Tom McCarty, Assistant IT Manager
Teams have budgets for meet-ups and we hold ‘active’ socials, like crazy golf and axe throwing. There’s a football team and we also run a WhatsApp group, where we celebrate birthdays and cheerlead everyone. And who could forget, our legendary summer and winter parties…
Plus, we celebrate each others’ successes. We run annual awards, and our monthly peer-nominated ‘Unsung Hero of the Month’ is a standout favourite.
You can leave early on Fridays, take extra time on your birthday, see your children on sports day, take a sabbatical… Think offers all employees the chance to have a really healthy work/life balance. Plus, there’s trained Mental Health First Aiders and access to a variety of mental health and wellbeing services on-hand.
“Work-life balance is highly valued, as is wellbeing – Think provides access to mental health services, offers a great health policy, and runs regular company socials and fundraisers. It’s a fantastic place to work.” – Hannah Sarsfield, Partnerships and Insights Manager
Prioritising inclusion and support
Inclusion is important to Think. We have an ED&I taskforce, offer ongoing training, hire apprentices, mentor young talent and work with specialist recruiters – just to name a few things.
We also have a gender-balanced board and nearly 50% of employees are over 40. People love Think so much, they never leave – we’ve just extended our 10-year retention scheme to 20 years!
“What makes Think so amazing is the people: a lovely and passionate group who are all supportive of each other’s needs and ambitions. Think has a fantastic workplace culture!” – Evie Worsnop, Editorial Assistant
Through an online platform, WeThrive, Think surveys teams to understand their needs. The findings are then shared, along with practical tips for managers.
Think far outperform industry averages, and our latest survey drove 14 new initiatives, such as allowing people to exercise across the day and giving everyone extra holiday between Christmas and New Year as standard.
“It’s an amazing feeling to work with a group of collaborative, creative individuals. All colleagues are genuine, kind, emphatic people who really, genuinely care.” – Anders Swaffield, Digital Marketing Manager
From sponsoring a children’s football team and organising bake sales to breaking a spinning world record, running supplies to the local food bank and donating to causes every day through advent, charity means a huge amount.
“Think feels like a family. They are a team of hugely talented individuals, with great collaboration and transparency across all levels. They promote from the inside, nurturing skills and allowing everyone to grow within their roles. Think’s culture encourages innovation in all aspects, highlights the huge support network – and our office socials can not be beaten!” – Leanne Rowley, Commercial Partnerships Manager
Kindness is baked into our culture and something advocated by the directors, who volunteer for industry bodies.
“It’s amazing to work with thoughtful individuals who think nothing of getting involved with the latest charity initiative we dream up – even if that means spending 29 hours and 5 seconds on a spin bike.” – Jackie Scully, Executive Director
You can’t get stronger proof than that!
